Illustrations for the New Slingshot

Back in the bay means back with Slingshot.  I didn't do much work for the new issue, but here's the work I did do.

Plus someone dug out and used this old one I did way back when I first joined the collective in 2010.
And here's me making the "magic" happen.

MRR Review

I got a review of the new Dreams of Donuts recently by my girl Vanessa X of Asswipe zine!  It's probably one of the sweetest reviews I have ever gotten in my life!

Dreams of Donuts #19 / $2 US / $3  world or trade
8.5 x 11 - copied - 60 pgs
Most of the time, I don't wanna go to shows and socialize with people.  I'd rather stay at home, listen to music, and read badass zines like Dreams of Donuts.  One time I even went to a bookstore near my house and read five of them in one sitting.  This is by far my favorite comic zine around.  Dreams of Donuts showcases Heather's rad drawings with personal, real, and humorous stories about her punk-as-fuck lifestyle.  In this issue,  Heather tells us about her dating woes, being a girl in the pit, and the history of 510-BAD-SMUT, a hotline in the Bay Area that announces underground shows and events.  It even comes with a hand drawn BAD SMUT bumper sticker.  A lot of past issues have dealt with heavy shit, but this one was definatly the most fun to read.  Recommended to anyone and everyone.  This zine will inspire you, make you laugh, and probably make you feel less alone in this cruel, cruel world.  (VX)

Ama-zine Review

Recently I received a really cool zine in the mail made by prisoners called Ama-zine.  Not only is it full of rad articles and comics, but I stumbled upon a Dreams of Donuts review in it as well, which is hella sweet and flattering, by the way!  It's pretty inspirational that our incarcerated comrades are finding and making the time to participate in subculture by making zines while locked up, and I highly recommend ordering this zine and supporting their effort.  The zine has various contributors, but the main editor is named Jay Michael Martinez.  The address I have to order issues is:
Eloy F. Martinez
P.O. Box 352
Batesville, TX 78829
And orders are $2.00 per copy.  And now for my review!

-Dec. 2013 Dreams of Donuts #17  I thoroughly enjoyed this comic-zine, by Heather Wreckage.  Her day-in-the-life style comic was one of the main reasons I was inspired to start my own zine.  The interview with Jimbo and his adventurous walk from Nevada to Seattle was quite educational.  Altogether, a good read.  A 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 (like this zine) 44 pages, for $2.00

Team Hag tattoo

I have three really amazing best friends, and I had tattoos for only two of them.  So I figured it was time to get one for my best girl of Crude Studs fame, Sophia.  It's an inside joke thing that I'm not going to get into, but the reason I'm putting it up here is because it's the first tattoo I've drawn for myself (on the fly right before I walked to the tattoo shop down the street, might I ad) and I'm pretty happy with it.

4-20 BAD-SMUT Benefit

The 4-20 benefit for 510-BAD-SMUT was a success, even though I still haven't put up the finished flier.  But here is the first prototype.  It ended up being a fabulous show, with bands like Pink Pile, Mom, Didisdead, Penny Machine, Bitter Fruit, Bat Magik, Relay for Death, and many more.  Plus, there was an easter beer hunt.
Through the proceeds from the punks, BAD SMUT ended up making $60, which equals nine months of the phone bill paid off.

Didisdead CD's

Some of my old as well as new buddies recently made a demo CD, and made all the cases at home by hand, and since I happened to be over hanging out anyways, I got to help make some of them.  Painting the cardboard got pretty exciting; spray adhesive, leaves, bleach, coffee, and paint were some of the mediums that were used.  They are a hella good band and really cool people, so you should check them out sometime.

510-BAD-SMUT Benifit

I have sooo many updates for this blog, but no time or internet!  It's on my very long to-do list, so I'll get to it eventually.  Anywho, here is the flier I made for the 510-BAD-SMUT benifit that we are hosting at the Boat.  This is the first version, I revised it later, which will be up soon.
